TODAY

...we'll look at the different kimono and cardi lengths & the sleeves options you'll find in this versatile pattern.

LENGTH 1: CROPPED SONGBIRD KIMONO

This length sits about hip level. It was actually my testing team who requested this length and I'm so glad they did (and I listened). It was extremely popular amongst the team.

LENGTH 2: COVER-UP SONGBIRD KIMONO

This length reaches just below the butt at fingertip level. This length is great with jeans & shorts. It would also make an awesome work-friendly length.

LENGTH 3: ABOVE THE KNEE SONGBIRD KIMONO

This length is perfect over a dress or jeans, sews up beautifully in knits and is ideal for the drawstring pattern hack. Make a gorgeous snuggly sweater knit Songbird cardi in this length.

LENGTH 4: LONG LINE SONGBIRD KIMONO

This length sits below the knee and is definitely a statement piece. Be bold and sew one up in your favourite fabric. You may have seen my video in the PE group or on Instagram of my Italian viscose jersey animal print Songbird in this length... or my stretch lace one below.

Next up are the sleeve styles you can choose from.

SLEEVE 1: SEMI FLARED SLEEVE

The semi-flared sleeve is very subtle. As a petite woman, it's my favourite. I love a bit of flare but too much is overpowering. If you love a more pronounced flared, go with the flared option below. Choose from long, 3/4 & 1/2 lengths.

Semi-flared Sleeve - Long

Semi-flared Sleeve - 3/4

Semi-flared Sleeve - 1/2

SLEEVE 2: FLARED SLEEVE

This is the flared sleeve. It's similar to, but wider than, the semi-flared sleeve. It looks best in light fabrics as you can see below. Choose from long & 3/4 lengths.

Flared Sleeve - Long length

Flared Sleeve - 3/4 length

SLEEVE 3: TAPERED SLEEVE

The tapered sleeve is our straightest sleeve. It's easy & comfortable. It works well in both woven & knit fabrics. Choose from long, 3/4 or 1/2 sleeve lengths.

Tapered - Long sleeve

Tapered - 3/4 sleeve

SLEEVE 4: SLEEVELESS

You can make your sleeveless Songbird in either woven or knit fabric. The armhole finish on the woven kimono is binding. The finish on the knit armholes is nice & easy bands.
